Alteration and relocation works
Electrical point relocation and alteration works
By Saikon Contractors · August 2026 · 3 min read
This is the work that comes up when a layout changes after the electrics are already in, moving a socket that ended up behind furniture, relocating a switch to the other side of a doorway, or altering points to fit a new kitchen or wardrobe design.
When this comes up
- A socket lands behind a bed headboard or fixed furniture after the room is set up
- A kitchen or wardrobe redesign moves the wall layout an existing point sits on
- A switch position no longer makes sense after a door or partition changes
- Points from a previous fit-out need to be altered for a new tenant or owner
What it costs
Alteration and relocation work is priced by site assessment rather than a fixed rate card, because the cost depends entirely on how far the point is moving, whether the wiring is surface or concealed, and whether the wall needs to be opened and patched. We will not quote this one blind. Send photos of the current position and where you want it instead, and we will give you a real number.
What is involved
Where possible, we extend or reroute the existing circuit rather than running an entirely new one, which keeps cost down. Where the move is significant or the existing wiring cannot reasonably reach, we treat it as new point installation from the DB box.
What you get
- A written, itemised quote before we start
- Every point tested before handover
- Two year workmanship warranty, in writing
